If there is anything you can predict about the May bank holiday weather, it is that it is unpredictable. We had some really warm days throughout April, but if you’re anything like me you’re tempted to put the heating on – so who knows what the 1st bank holiday of May is going to bring. Here are some fool-proof tips for dressing for the Bank Holiday.

Wear Layers
Just because it is warm and sunny when you leave the house, don’t be fooled into thinking it will stay that way all day. If you go out assuming that the morning weather is exactly how the afternoon will pan out, you’re likely to spend the afternoon feeling a little cold. Instead, it is much better to leave the house in an outfit made up of layers – that way you can take off layers or put them on as you need and stay comfortable all day.
Take a Coat
May bank holidays are notorious for being wet, so if you can – take a coat with you. Even if you’re just putting it in the boot of the car in case you need it later. If you don’t want to carry a coat then something to change into or even an umbrella is wise!
Think Shoes
No one wants to spend the day having soggy shoes and socks, so think about what shoes you want to wear. If you’re going for a long walk then comfortable sensible shoes are a must. If you’re heading to dinner with friends then sandals can be tempting, but just remember it might rain and you could end up with soggy toes. Wear shoes that will help you stay dry, or take a spare pair with you just in case.
