Now that the better weather is here, garden parties and barbecues are likely to happen more often – as it becomes the ideal time to see friends and family! So, if you have a summer invite or two to look forward to here are some ideas on what to wear to a barbecue.

Something Comfortable

One of the most important things is that you wear something comfortable. Barbecues tend to be lots of sitting down and catching up with friends, so the last thing you want is waistbands digging in & uncomfortable shoes. Instead, choose an outfit that you know you are going to be comfortable in – even if you’re wearing it all day.

Layers

The better weather might be here too but one thing that you can’t rely on is the longevity of the British sunshine. So, wearing layers is definitely recommended if you’re attending a summer event. So, think of a top that you can wear a jacket over, or a dress that you can team up with leggings if it gets chilly. Barbecues often go on until the evening when the temperature drops, so you’ll be glad of some layers to help you keep warm.

Avoid White

Avoiding white isn’t a hard and fast rule but when you’re hitting greasy meat and teaming that up with salad dressings, tomato ketchup and mustard it’s a recipe for disaster. If you can be confident that your whites will go unscathed then by all means whether something shiny and white, but the truth is that if you want to tuck into some tasty barbecue treats then it is definitely something to ve avoided – unless of course, you want to ditch the white clothing once you’re home from the event.
