Let’s face it, most of us want to get more out of our day. Whether you work from home, work full time or spend your day in other ways getting more out of your day helps you to feel better, get more done and feel as though you are being as productive as possible. Here are ways to make your day more organised.

Get Into a Routine

Without a doubt, getting into a routine and sticking to it as much as possible is the best way to make your day more organised. This can be hard if you don’t have a set schedule – for example, a time you have to start work. However, you should look at each day as the same – so whatever you need to achieve that day, try to start your day around the same time, even if you don’t technically have to. For example, even if you’re a freelancer that works for yourself get into the habit of starting your working day at the same time each day and you’ll find it much easier to get into the right mindset of getting things done.

Set Daily and Weekly Tasks

Get organised and write down the tasks that you want to achieve. There is something really satisfying about being able to tick items off the list as you go along. It can be a good idea to make a list of things you MUST do that day and things that you need to do that week, that way you can tick off the weekly tasks as you go. Try not to leave all of the weekly tasks until the last minute and instead do a couple as you go through the week and your life will be much easier.

Be Realistic

The worst thing you can do is pretend that you are going to have a super productive week and write a long list of things to achieve, and then leave them unticked – this isn’t good for motivation at all! You know your abilities and therefore start small and make sure you stick to tasks that you know you are going to be able to complete. As you start to get more organised and more productive you can add or into each day but definitely don’t set yourself up for failure at the start.
